Projex Building were engaged on a lump sum basis to upgrade the existing STEM facilities at St Mary MacKillop College in Wanniassa. The scope included the fitout and reconfiguration of an existing STEM and textiles room, corridor, courtyard, staffroom and the new open plan food technology rooms 1 & 2.

With the need to have the classrooms operational by the end of the school holidays, the projects required a high level of management coordinating all trades and procuring long lead times such as the new distribution board, mechanical units and fabrication all 14 stainless steel cooking areas prior to school commencing.

The main key challenges to this project were procurement and programming. There were numerous high-end architectural items specified with long lead times. These items required both value management and substitution to meet the project timeframe and budget. Projex building’s ability to apply alternate construction methods and find substitution materials resulted in a successful project delivery, meeting the client’s objectives without compromising the architectural vision allowing school to commence with full operation of all new refurbished facilities.
