PROJEX were engaged on a Project Management Agreement to oversee the design and construction of the National Capital Exhibition refurbishment and the integrated fitout of the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre located at Regatta Point in Canberra.

The works required a high level of Project Management to achieve various stakeholder objectives and produce a quality centre and exhibition space for the community. Included in the Works was a major refurbishment to the National Capital Exhibition building to provide a platform for an international standard Visitors Centre, due to the exacting standards of the National Capital Authority and the significant role the Visitors centre plays for Tourism Canberra, a quality product was demanded.

This project incorporates major demolition and structural alterations to the base building, new services infrastructure, new office amenities, a new entrance, a new disabled access, landscaping and a bespoke fitout that incorporates a substantial Audio Visual package.

Key challenges on this project included stakeholder management, an occupied site, a critical date for Practical Completion and high quality standards. Through PROJEX’s collaborative approach to implementation of the Project Management Plan these challenges were overcome and successful project outcomes achieved.
